Defining Mimasuna

 

Mimasuna’ is the one word that combines in its folds the first two letters of the three names Mikhail, May, Suha, and the family name Naimy, to reflect the kind of bond these three have together, the bond of the one family, the one word and the one heart-beat.

Mimasuna is the last phase of Mikhail Naimy’s life, his last 20 years, from the time he was almost 80 years old until the age of 99 and 4 months, the age of his passing. During those years, he lived with his niece May Najeeb Naimy, whom he called ‘his guardian angel’, and her daughter Suha Haddad, who is known as Suha Naimy because she was raised by him and by her mother May Najeeb Naimy, and the three formed the one family.

These last twenty years of Mikhail Naimy’s life were divided to three years in his home in Jdeideh region upon the birth of Suha, then seventeen years in his home in Zalka region (both regions are northern suburbs of Beirut, Lebanon).

The three formed the one family, the Mimasuna family, and it was in his Zalka home that Mikhail Naimy took his last breath on Sunday, February 28, 1988, at 10.20 p.m. Naimy was then surrounded by his Mimasuna family and by his extended family and friends and neighbors.

’ميماسُونا‘ هي الكلمة الواحدة التي تضمّ الأحرف الأولى من الأسماء الثلاثة ميخائيل، مَيّ، سُهى واسم الشهرة نعيمه للدلالة على عمق العلاقة التي تجمع مكوّنات هذه الكلمة من محبّة واحترام ووحدة حال. فالثلاثة هم الكلمة الواحدة والنبض الواحد.

الـ’ميماسونا‘ هي المرحلة الأخيرة من حياة ميخائيل نعيمه التي قضاها مع ابنة أخيه ميّ نجيب نعيمه وابنتها سهى حدّاد، المعروفة بـ’سهى نعيمه’، (السنوات الثلاث الأولى في منطقة الجْدَيْدة ثم السنوات الـ 17 التالية في منطقة الزلقا شمال بيروت، لبنان) فكوّن الثلاثة العائلة الواحدة، وكانت ميّ ملاكه الحارس، كما لقّبَها، وهي التي اهتمّتْ به على مدى سنوات، خاصّة سنوات شيخوخته العشرين الأخيرة، من عمر الثمانين حتى رحيله عن عمر تسعة وتسعين وأربعة أشهر. رحل نعيمه إلى دنيا النور نهار الأحد في 28 شباط، 1988، الساعة العاشرة والثلث مساءً زكان مُحاطاً بعائلته الميماسونا وبقيّة أفراد العائلة وثلّة من الأصدقاء والجيران.
